This class provides a full 16 hours of training in the foundations of Traditional Ayurvedic Massage (Abhyanga). Students will learn and practice specialized techniques and protocol to give full body Ayurvedic treatments, using specific dosha-appropriate oils and essential oils. This class also introduces students to the theory and practice of Marma Chikitsa (Marma therapy) and the protocol for practicing a marma treatment in tandem with Abhyanga.

Ayurveda, translated from Sanskrit as the “Science of Life,” has a rich history as a healing practice. This workshop is designed as an introduction to Ayurvedic massage techniques and presented through an easy to comprehend teaching style that opens the door by giving massage therapists and other practitioners the basic techniques for client-based therapies.
In this class, you will:
• Learn the protocol and techniques used in a Traditional Ayurvedic massage (Abhyanga) sequence
• Understand the importance of client-specific Ayurvedic oils and essential oils for Ayurvedic massage and bodywork
• Complete your own personal constitutional (dosha) analysis and learn the value of this form of evaluation for use in your practice
• Recognize the relationship between the elements and doshas & decipher the theories behind Indian body-mind-medicine
